On December 12, 2024, CODA Representative Director, Takero Goto, delivered a lecture at the “2024 JAMRA Seminar & Networking Event” organized by the Japan Merchandising Rights Association (JAMRA). The event was held at the TKP Ichigaya Conference Center in Shinjuku, Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAMRA was established in 1977 with the aim of protecting rights related to character merchandising. It conducts seminars on themes related to the character business, promotes personal networking, and raises awareness of counterfeit countermeasures.
Since 2018, this seminar and networking event has been held regularly, marking its 16th iteration this year. The topic, \u201cCountermeasures Against Piracy Overseas for Japanese Content,\u201d was chosen based on participant feedback from past seminars, where this was identified as a high-priority area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At JAMRA\u2019s request, Takero Goto of CODA delivered a comprehensive lecture covering the evolving environment surrounding Japanese content in the digital and online era, the increasing complexity of piracy countermeasures, and successful case studies from the international enforcement project (CBEP) that overcame various challenges. He also emphasized the need to establish a collaborative enforcement system for Japan\u2019s world-renowned content intellectual property (IP).
Approximately 20 JAMRA member companies attended the seminar. Questions were raised about the current status of copyright certification managed by CODA\u2019s Beijing office and legal challenges under copyright law when dealing with infringing goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The networking event that followed provided a valuable opportunity for JAMRA members, including authors, publishers, television broadcasters, film production companies, advertising agencies, program production studios, and licensees, to exchange opinions and share information regarding Japanese content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
