On December 12, 2024, CODA hosted an online event to announce the results of the “Digital Etiquette for Teens CREATIVE AWARD 2024.” Out of 175 submissions received from across Japan and overseas, the winners of the Grand Prize and other awards were announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event began with an opening speech by Mr. Satoru Hayasaka, Deputy Director of the Culture and Creative Industries Division, Commerce and Service Industry Policy Group at the\u00a0Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). In his remarks, he emphasized the significance of the AWARD in the ever-expanding world of digital content, where technology and ways of enjoyment continue to evolve.
Following this, the judges participated in a talk session on the theme of the AWARD, “#The Digital Society is Freedom.” During the discussion on “The Freedom and Possibilities of Expression in the Digital Space,” Head Judge Ms. Ellie Omiya stated that “the digital world transcends time and space, offering infinite possibilities for expression.” Judge Ms. Sara Giusto added, “By breaking conventional ideas through digital expression, we can expand and deepen human connections.”
In the session titled “What is Important to Enjoy Freedom,” Mr. Yoshikuni Noda emphasized, “Since the digital society, like the real world, involves people, it is important to use our imagination.” Ms. Ellie Omiya commented, “Even in the digital world, we need to go back to basics and remember that there are people behind every creation. No one creates something with the intent to harm others.” Ms. Sara Giusto stressed, “Like in the real world, the digital society also has its own rules. We need to take the opportunity to learn these rules more seriously.” These discussions deepened the audience\u2019s understanding of the importance of social norms and the role of digital etiquette in ensuring that the digital society can be enjoyed freely, responsibly, and respectfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Afterward, thirteen entries that had passed the first round of selection were presented. Judge Mr. Tetsuo Maeda shared comments on the submissions, and other judges also provided evaluations, sharing their thoughts on the works that left a strong impression on them. The feedback expressed high praise for the originality and creativity demonstrated by the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the winners of the various awards were announced. The Grand Prize went to the video work “One And Only.” The judges commended it for highlighting the positive aspects of the digital society, such as the sharing and spreading of personal passions. They further praised the way the video used visual storytelling to convey various messages about the digital society, perfectly aligning with the theme of the AWARD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Grand Prize winner will have the opportunity to participate in a special session with Head Judge Ms. Ellie Omiya, who is also a professional creator. A variety of unique perks and opportunities have been planned for the other award recipients, and further details will be announced on the special AWARD website and CODA\u2019s homepage in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
