On May 22, 2025, a proposal compiled by the Liberal Democratic Party\u2019s (LDP) Intellectual Property Strategy Investigation Committee was approved at a meeting of the LDP Policy Research Council held at the LDP headquarters. Subsequently, on May 26, Committee Chair Takayuki Kobayashi and Secretary-General Taro Yamada submitted the proposal to Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the April 15 meeting of the “Intellectual Property Strategy Investigation Committee \/ Digital Contents Strategy Subcommittee,” a hearing was conducted with Takero Goto, Representative Director of the Content Overseas Distribution Association (CODA). During the session Goto made the following proposals:
1. The need for further support from relevant ministries and agencies to promote joint enforcement efforts\u2014such as criminal, civil, and administrative procedures, as well as knock-and-talk activities\u2014under CODA\u2019s Cross-Border Enforcement Project (CBEP).
2. The necessity of implementing measures to address the current situation in which counterfeit character goods related to Japan\u2019s world-renowned content IP are being distributed through global e-commerce platforms and other channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The proposal submitted to Prime Minister Ishiba includes the proposals made by CODA and incorporates concrete content strategies tailored to the digital era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
