On August 19, 2025, CODA visited the headquarters of the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department in North Point, Hong Kong SAR, China. CODA expressed its appreciation for Hong Kong Customs\u2019 investigations and crackdowns on rights infringement cases involving Japanese content and held a meeting to exchange views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2005, CODA and Hong Kong Customs have continuously cooperated in anti-piracy measures, achieving significant results through numerous enforcement actions. Furthermore, on April 26, 2022, CODA and Hong Kong Customs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation aimed at protecting intellectual property rights and promoting public awareness in both Japan and Hong Kong. In March 2023, CODA presented a plaque of appreciation to Hong Kong Customs in recognition of its achievements in combating infringement of Japanese content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the latest meeting, both sides shared up-to-date information on their current anti-infringement efforts and recent trends, while also engaging in open discussions on further strengthening intellectual property rights protection going forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CODA will continue to work with Hong Kong Customs and other authorities around the world to protect Japanese content IP and promote the healthy distribution of legitimate content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity was carried out as part of a project commissioned by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
