On April 25, 2025, CODA visited Beijing, China, and held an exchange meeting with the Copyright Society of China (CSC) and eight of its member companies and organizations. The meeting focused on strengthening copyright protection between Japan and China.
The Copyright Society of China (CSC) was established in March 1990 under the supervision of the National Copyright Administration. It is a nationwide organization in China specializing in the field of copyright. With 515 member companies and organizations from diverse sectors such as publishing, software, film, visual arts, music, and performing arts, CSC conducts a wide range of copyright-related activities.
Since 2010, CODA and CSC have co-hosted numerous training seminars and awareness-raising events related to intellectual property rights protection. These efforts have contributed to mutual understanding between Japan and China and to the sound development of the content industries in both countries.
During the exchange meeting, both sides shared the latest information regarding anti-piracy measures and engaged in frank discussions on future exchanges and enhanced protection in the field of intellectual property rights. In addition, specific discussions were held on further advancing the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2023 between CODA and CSC, which aims at a strategic partnership concerning Japan-China content. The meeting proved to be a valuable opportunity to deepen collaboration going forward.

About CODA
CODA (Content Overseas Distribution Association) was established in 2002 at the call of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Agency for Cultural Affairs to promote the overseas development of Japanese content and take anti-piracy measures. Japan’s proud content, including music, movies, anime, broadcast programs, video games, and publishing, plays an important role in enhancing the nation’s international presence and economic growth. As digital technology becomes more widespread, it is even more significant to protect Japan’s content from increasingly artful copyright infringement and promote the content industry’s development. CODA contributes to the deterrence and detection of online and other piracy, by sharing knowledge with relevant government agencies, organizations, and companies in Japan and abroad, to engage in direct and indirect anti-piracy measures, as well as public relations activities.
