News Delegation from the Copyright Protection Center of China Visits CODA

On May 30, 2025, a delegation of four members from the Copyright Protection Center of China (CPCC), led by Mr. Zhang Youli, Deputy Director General of CPCC, visited CODA and held a roundtable discussion in the CODA meeting room.

The CPCC is a public service organization established in 1998 under the supervision of the National Copyright Administration of China. It provides services including copyright registration, legal consultation, research and consulting, public education, promotion of licensing businesses, and international exchange. In particular, it serves as the sole copyright registration institution in China for computer software. In recent years, the CPCC has focused on copyright in the digital domain, paying close attention to the development of AI and its impact on copyright-related industries, and has been actively conducting related research.
CODA invited the CPCC delegation to Japan through its affiliated Chinese NGO, the CODA Beijing Office, in order to build a dialogue channel with CPCC and to deepen mutual understanding of the copyright-related legal systems and recent developments in both Japan and China.

During the roundtable discussion, the two sides exchanged the latest information on each country’s perspectives and challenges surrounding AI and copyright. The meeting also featured a lively Q&A session and active discussion on future cooperation and enhanced protection in the field of intellectual property.
CODA will continue to strengthen its collaboration with overseas institutions and organizations. By promoting cross-border cooperation and leveraging each party’s knowledge and experience, CODA aims to further advance content protection initiatives.

About CODA
CODA (Content Overseas Distribution Association) was established in 2002 at the call of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Agency for Cultural Affairs to promote the overseas development of Japanese content and take anti-piracy measures. Japan’s proud content, including music, movies, anime, broadcast programs, video games, and publishing, plays an important role in enhancing the nation’s international presence and economic growth. As digital technology becomes more widespread, it is even more significant to protect Japan’s content from increasingly artful copyright infringement and promote the content industry’s development. CODA contributes to the deterrence and detection of online and other piracy, by sharing knowledge with relevant government agencies, organizations, and companies in Japan and abroad, to engage in direct and indirect anti-piracy measures, as well as public relations activities.
