CODA also exchanged views with Hong Kong Customs on various measures.
Hong Kong Customs is the agency responsible for investigating and cracking down on intellectual property rights infringements in Hong Kong. CODA and Hong Kong Customs have maintained continuous cooperation since 2005 and have achieved significant results through investigations and enforcement actions against intellectual property rights infringements involving Japanese content. Furthermore, on April 26, 2022, the two parties concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote cooperation in the mutual protection of intellectual property rights and public awareness in Japan and Hong Kong, further strengthening their collaboration.
The presentation of the plaque of appreciation was intended to once again express CODA’s gratitude for Hong Kong Customs’ contributions and efforts in protecting Japanese content over the years. The presentation ceremony was attended by Ms. TAM Pui Ying (Head of Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau), among others, and both parties confirmed their commitment to continuing their cooperation.
During the exchange of views that followed, the two parties shared information on the anti-piracy measures they are currently undertaking and the latest trends in infringement, and exchanged candid views on further strengthening their cooperation.
CODA will continue to strengthen its cooperation with relevant authorities in countries and regions, including Hong Kong Customs, and promote initiatives to protect Japanese content and facilitate its legitimate distribution.
