On October 21, 2026, three representatives from Turkey’s Intellectual Property Criminal Courts, National Police, and Customs visited CODA and participated in an exchange of views in CODA’s meeting room.
The visit to CODA took place in connection with the invitation of Turkish law enforcement officials to Japan as part of the activities of the International Intellectual Property Protection Forum (IIPPF), whose secretariat is operated by JETRO. During their stay in Japan, the officials shared information and exchanged views with IIPPF, as well as with Japanese law enforcement authorities and companies.

The meeting with CODA began with opening remarks by Takero Goto, Representative Director of CODA, followed by self-introductions from each of the Turkish representatives. Goto then explained CODA’s activities, as well as the current state and challenges of anti-piracy measures in Japan.
During the subsequent exchange of views, both sides shared information on their respective anti-piracy measures and recent trends in copyright infringement. They also exchanged views on the current state and challenges of enforcement in Turkey, providing an opportunity to deepen their mutual understanding of efforts to protect intellectual property rights in both countries.

About CODA
CODA (Content Overseas Distribution Association) was established in 2002 at the call of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Agency for Cultural Affairs to promote the overseas development of Japanese content and take anti-piracy measures. Japan’s proud content, including music, movies, anime, broadcast programs, video games, and publishing, plays an important role in enhancing the nation’s international presence and economic growth. As digital technology becomes more widespread, it is even more significant to protect Japan’s content from increasingly artful copyright infringement and promote the content industry’s development. CODA contributes to the deterrence and detection of online and other piracy, by sharing knowledge with relevant government agencies, organizations, and companies in Japan and abroad, to engage in direct and indirect anti-piracy measures, as well as public relations activities.
